Successes: In 2015, adult clubs in Indiana were faced with very harmful legislation that would have placed heavy restrictions on hours of operation, alcohol sales and much more. It was proposed because a state senator alleged the clubs of being in involved with and responsible for human trafficking. But thanks to the efforts of ACE of Indiana, their lobbyist and the COAST program, ACE representatives were able to meet with that senator and the legislation was dramatically changed for the clubs’ benefit.

Status: “We work with the FQBL (French Quarter Business League). Rick’s, Penthouse and the Hustler Clubs have always maintained good relations over the years and we do what we can to keep unfavorable legislation away from our businesses. The Bass brothers (owners of the Babe’s clubs in New Orleans and New Jersey) and I have had a similar relationship. Years ago, operators started FQBL, so any and all Bourbon street business could be included in politics, charity and marketing, working as a whole to keep The French Quarter ‘funky.’ We have no ACE chapter in Louisiana, but several operators have worked together with the help of many others to keep Louisiana special. Over the years, we have had two COAST trainings, supported ACE National and follow the good-neighbor business plan. We have worked with many cities to create legislation on entertainment, smoking, sound and overall protection of our industry.” — Jason Mohney
